Venturo Crane Selector Web Tool Pairs Vehicles with Cranes

Venturo® has released a new finder on its website to keep job sites equipped with the proper service cranes. The brand-new Crane Selector utilizes gross vehicle weight, necessary boom length and maximum load capacity to pair vehicles with the most suitable Venturo product.
Venturo cranes are designed for an array of light, moderate and heavy-duty applications, and matching vehicles with the right equipment to meet job requirements improves efficiency and safety on the job site. The innovative Crane Selector is a simple, effective tool to provide operators with the proper crane package.
Each crane, and crane line, is designed for a set of specific uses. Selecting the appropriate crane is an integral step toward more efficient operations and a safer job site. No piece of equipment, even the ideal crane, is 100% foolproof, but an improper product will at best limit performance and at worst endanger workers. The Crane Selector takes some guesswork out of the equation.
This new offering from Venturo joins Venturo Logic Controls™ (VLC) as another recent innovation from the crane manufacturer. The VLC™ Crane Control Management System brings safety, control and reliability to the company’s fully-hydraulic service cranes. This system offers safe, comfortable and smart crane operations by utilizing features like overload protection, a pistol-grip controller and visible safety alerts.
From dependable equipment to state-of-the-art technology, Venturo is ahead of the curve when it comes to safe, effective crane solutions. Try the new Crane Selector tool at www.venturo.com/support/crane-selector. Test Drive: Driving the FTR, Isuzu's Biggest Truck

The Isuzu FTR holds true to the company's vehicle design philosophy with an emphasis on safety, maneuverability and fuel economy. - Photo: Jack Roberts
Around the world, Isuzu Motors sells a range of commercial trucks, ranging from light- to heavy-duty models. In North America, however, the Japanese OEM focused for many years exclusively on providing midrange Class 3 to 5 medium-duty trucks.
But in 2017, that dynamic changed when the company launched its Class 6 FTR model — a 25,950-pound GVWR cabover optimized for urban and regional applications — in the U.S. And on a clear day in mid-November, I got to climb up into the cab and take a shining new FTR out on the road to see for myself how Isuzu is approaching the heavier end of the medium-duty market here.
For starters, the FTR is by no means a departure from Isuzu’s long-standing and highly successful formula for short-wheelbase cabover trucks.
At first approach, the FTR appears massive compared to other Isuzu models I’ve driven in the past. But, scale aside, the truck also seems intimately familiar. All the design cues I’ve come to expect from Isuzu are present, from the panoramic front windshield, outstanding agility in tight surroundings, simple and intuitive switches, knobs and controls, crisp, easy-to-read instrumentation and gauges, and work-focused cab interior ergonomics.
More to the point, the FTR retains Isuzu’s proven low-cab-forward design developed for city driving, which boasts a combination of maneuverability and visibility. My demo model featured the standard, four-cylinder, Isuzu 5.2L 4HK1-TC turbocharged diesel engine. Mated to a North American-exclusive Allison automatic transmission, the powertrain puts out 215 hp and 520 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. The truck was fitted with an 18-foot Morgan refrigerated body and a Thermo King T680R-50 reefer unit, making the truck suitable for urban and short-haul refrigerated food transport.

  • Third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel V8 hammers out 330 horsepower and 825 ft.-lbs. of torque
DEARBORN, Mich., December 19, 2019 – The 2020 line-up of Super Duty chassis cabs is built even more capable, powerful, and work-ready featuring an available all-new 7.3-liter V8, all-new 10-speed TorqShift® transmission, available third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 diesel engine and a 6.2-liter gas V8, all offered up to give customers the power of choice when the toughest jobs in the harshest conditions require maximum performance.

The all-new available 7.3-liter V8 is the biggest displacement gas engine in the class and delivers dyno-certified 350 horsepower at 3,900 rpm and best-in-class 468 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,900 rpm all in a compact, versatile engine designed with commercial durability in mind.

“We don’t operate in a vacuum in Ford commercial trucks, we talk to the customers, dealers and upfitters who know how hard our trucks are worked,” said Nathan Oscarson, commercial truck marketing manager, “That kind of real-world feedback helps us engineer the level of commercial trucks that the industry demands.”

Maximum grunt comes from the available 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 offering dyno-certified 330 horsepower at 2,600 rpm and 825 ft.-lbs. of torque at just 1,600 rpm – and improvement of 75 ft.-lbs versus the previous model year. An all-new heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift® automatic transmission is standard across all engine offerings with available live drive power takeoff. This new 10-bolt power take off provision is capable of a best-in-class maximum 300 ft.-lbs. of stationary torque and comes standard on diesel-equipped models.

“From the 6.2 V8 to the 7.3L V8 to the heavy duty 10-speed, these powertrains are always in the sweet spot of the power band for maximum efficiency and capability in towing and hauling,” said Greg Stout, heavy duty drivetrain manager.

F-series Super Duty Chassis Cab models include business-critical capability like best-in-class maximum payload of 12,750 lbs. which lets customers mount everything from utility bodies to boom cranes. Vocational customization is simplified with available programmable upfitter interface module and drivers appreciate functionality like available flat under seat storage.

Ford Super Duty Chassis Cabs are #1 in commercial truck class 2-5 registrations with 65.6 percent total share of the U.S market*, proving that when the power goes out, when fires must be fought or when bridges need building- it’s dedicated tradesmen in Ford Super Duty Chassis Cabs who come to the rescue.

New Ford Telematics™ and Data Services are available to help commercial customers operate their fleets more efficiently. Ford Telematics enables fleet managers to improve asset utilization, optimize running costs, protect their vehicles and encourage better driver behavior. This advanced technology is enabled in the Super Duty lineup by the inclusion of standard FordPass Connect™ with 4G LTE Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices which keep the truck, drivers and crews connected at all times. Those uptime gains from smart technology continue with Pre-Collision Assist with Automated Emergency Braking and Audible Lane Departure Warning, which can help operators avoid or mitigate collisions.
Super Duty Chassis cab models are available to purchase today. For customers who need additional payload or need to mount heavier upfits but don’t want to move into a larger truck, the all-new Ford F-600 Super Duty chassis cab is just the right fit between F-550 and F-650 and will be available for order later in 2020.

Premier Aluminum Racks – We’ve Got Your Back!

Premier Built Aluminum Platform Racks - Strong but Lighter
than Traditional Steel Platform Racks

When you try to lift a steel rack off or replace it on your platform, you may be inducing unnecessary strain into your back muscles and risking serious back injury. Premier Racks are built with heavy gauge extruded aluminum slats. The posts are thick aluminum channel, this makes for a significantly lighter rack section and makes it much easier to move the sections when necessary. In fact, the typical Premier section weighs 34% less than a steel rack section. That’s 27 pounds or 12 pounds lighter than a steel section.

Read what OSHA says about lifting heavy objects here:

We also offer the “Swing Out” version of the front most rack on each side. This allows you to lift the aluminum rack just a bit, enough distance to disengage the vertical posts from the side pockets and swing it out and forward. This leaves you with access to load and unload large, heavy objects from the side and up close to the cab where it rides well and can be secured against the headboard.
